Our First Victory
With Road2Recall petition circulators blanketing Douglas County, the School District has finally agreed to put our middle-school and high-school students back in the classroom, where they belong. It took far too long, but the School Board finally saw the light. We have no doubt they would have persisted in the wrong course without pressure from you, our amazing volunteers. Together, we’ve won a major victory.
The School Board’s decision eliminates the primary rationale for the recall, which was the District’s failure to return to in-person learning. For that reason, the Road2Recall team has decided to redirect our attention to November. We are suspending our recall petition and kicking off an eight-month campaign to hold this board responsible for its failure to put the children first. Instead of sitting back until September, as happens all too often with school board campaigns, we’ll build on our current momentum without even a short break. The volunteer activism, social media activity, Zoom Q&As, neighborhood organizing — it’s all continuing.

Road2Recall is now Road2Recovery. Our first victory is behind us, with our next four waiting for us in November.
